Review: Keys Soulcare Transformation Cream

What It Is: A hydrating and moisturizing face cream that helps plump up the skin.

Active Ingredients: Bakuchiol, Malachite, Ceramides, and Hyaluronic Acid

Verdict: This moisturizer is everything I love and look for in a moisturizer – it’s nourishing and thick without it being greasy. I use this at night and I tend to gravitate towards moisturizers that don’t quickly disappear after a few seconds. A little goes a long way and I recommend using this for the face and neck as it really helps plump up the skin without weighing it down. I have oily skin and this moisturizer was perfect – drier skin would definitely benefit from this one too.

Review: Tatcha The Water Cream

What It Is: Hydrating and pore-minimizing cream.

What It Does: Hydrates oily skin without clogging pores.

Active Ingredients: Green Tea, Rice, Algae, Leopard Lily, and Wild Rose.

Verdict: This cream has been hyped so much, and usually when there’s too much hype it goes in two ways, either it’s overrated or the product actually really is that good. Having oily skin, it’s always hard to find a moisturizer that isn’t heavy, but at the same time isn’t watery too. This hydrating cream, despite its name, isn’t watery at all. It actually is very hydrating and rich but in a non-oily or heavy way, which is perfect for all of us that deal with oily skin and breakouts. I use it at night and wake up with nourished, moisturized skin in the morning. I recommend it if you have oily to combo skin that’s prone to breakouts.

Review: Tatcha The Rice Wash

What It Is: A soft, cleansing wash for all skin types.

What It Does: Exfoliates in a non-abrasive way.

Active Ingredients: Japanese Rice Powder, Okinawa Algae Blend, and Hyaluronic Acid

Verdict: I’m picky when it comes to cleansers, but this one is really good. Not only does it leave your skin feeling hydrated after you wash it, but the gentle rice bits also help exfoliate the skin in a way that doesn’t leave your skin stripped. Many people love this brand and I was very excited to try it out since so many people have sung praises for their products. If you’re looking for a milk exfoliator or want a cleanser that won’t leave your skin feeling like the Sahara Desert, then this is your best bet.

Review: Osea Essential Hydrating Oil

What It Is: Hydrating Oil

What It Does: Age-defying oil for dry and sensitive skin

Active Ingredients: Seed Oil, Flower Oil, Lavender, Rosewood, Vitamin E, and Chamomile

Verdict: This hydrating oil smells sooo divine thanks to lavender and bergamot. I’ll be frank, this hydrating oil is one that you will want to use at night, because it wouldn’t do well beneath your makeup (as in it really makes your skin ultra glowy/oily). However, it really packs in the hydration that you wake up to incredibly soft and supple skin. It says that this oil works best for those with dry or sensitive skin, however, my skin is on the oily side and it doesn’t break me out, so I think it’s safe to say that even those with oily skin would benefit from using this hydrating oil. All you need is a dime size amount to spread along your face and neck. The scent is so calming that you’ll be sleeping your way to beauty in no time. If you’re looking for a cleanser to amp up your skincare routine, I highly recommend Osea’s Ocean Cleanser.

Review: Beautaniq Beauty Raindrench Serum

What It Does: A soothing and hydrating serum to keep skin soft, smooth, and healthy-looking.

Active Ingredients: Niacinamide, Vitamin B5, Hyaluronic Acid, and Zinc.

Verdict: This serum is excellent if you’re looking for a serum that targets the following concerns: pore minimizing, removal of dead skin cells, and hydration. I like that the serum is thick, and not watery, so it makes it easier to apply, and it leaves your skin feeling plump, smooth, and not oily. This serum is suggested to wear at night, and it makes sense when you have such powerful ingredients that would benefit from penetrating in your skin at night when the skin does most of its repair. Zinc, one of the ingredients used in the serum, helps acne-prone skin to remain pimple-free as well as helping with aging skin. For the price point, this serum delivers and I recommend it if you’re looking for a night serum.

Review: Dew of the Gods Claydate Healing Face Mask

What It Is: Mineral-rich clay mask

Active Ingredients: Rosehip Oil, Aloe, Coconut Oil, and Hyaluronic Acid.

Verdict: Madelaine Petsch is the queen of selfcare and when I heard that she’d be curating Ipsy’s May glam bag, I knew that I had to nab one for myself. First things first, this clay mask smells phenomenal – and by that I mean, it has a very clean and relaxing scent that prepares you for the indulgent journey you’re about to experience. Having oily skin I love clay masks as they help zap up any extra oil, but what I loved about this clay mask, in particular, is that it leaves your skin feeling hydrated. The directions called for leaving the mask on for ten minutes, however, I was caught watching the finale of Big Little Lies so I kept it on for an hour, and my skin never felt tight or taunt once washed off, but actually very nourished and soft. I recommend this mask if you’re looking for a purifying mask that will help restore radiance and suppleness to your skin.

Review: Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner

What It Is: Toner for Dry and Combination Skin

Verdict: Skincare is my jam and nothing gets me more excited than to try out new skincare products. This toner is a staple in K-Beauty. I’m really picky when it comes to toners because I want them to be both gentle and yet feel like they’re cleansing and leaving my skin feeling thoroughly free of any leftover gunk or oil. I’m happy to state that this toner does precisely that. Plus, it smells softly flowery (I despise toners that have a rubbing alcohol scent that makes one feel like your face would be highly flammable if you got too close to a match). I really recommend this toner if you have dry, combination skin, or acne prone skin.

Review: Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator

What It Is: An age-defying exfoliator that gently polishes, smooths the look of skin, and buffs away dead surface skin cells for a smoother, brighter complexion in minutes.

Active Ingredients: Lactic Acid

Skin Types: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

Skincare Concerns: Dullness and Uneven Texture, Fine Lines and Wrinkles, and Acne and Blemishes

Verdict: This very well might be the holy grail of exfoliators. I’m usually not a huge fan of exfoliating creams/cleansers because many tend to be harsh and create actual lesions/cuts on the skin (I’m looking at you St. Ives), however, these exfoliating beads are so minuscule and so delicate that it manages to rid your skin of dead skin cells AND be gentle enough for sensitive skin. I was pleasantly surprised by this exfoliator because I’m usually not a fan of exfoliators, but this one really does what it promises to do. It leaves your skin feeling smooth like silk and incredibly soft. I recommend this if you’re looking to amp up your skincare routine.

Review: Topicals Like Butter Hydrating Mask

What It Is: A hydrating mask, best for dry sensitive skin.

What It Does: Soothes, hydrates, and restores.

Active Ingredients: Green Tea, Madecassoside, Tumeric, Rhubarb, and Ginseng.

Verdict: This is by far the softest hydrating mask you’ll ever experience. If, like me, you have oily skin, then you may use this hydrating mask once a week, applying a thin layer of it all over your face and keeping it on for 20 minutes. However, if your skin is more on the dry side, especially during the winter when skin tends to be parched, you can also apply a thin layer of this mask all over and keep it overnight. Once you remove this mask (using a cloth and lukewarm water) you’ll unleash the softest skin you’ve ever imagined possible. It seems to eliminate bumps and any dry patches you may have. I tend to exfoliate my skin prior to putting this mask on, so that the skin can easily soak up all the hydrating and soothing ingredients found within this mask. I really recommend this product if you’re in need of some major hydration. Personally, I can’t wait to try out other skincare products from Topicals.

Review: Burt’s Bees Truly Glowing Gel Cleanser

What It Is: Gel Cleanser

Active Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid

Verdict: I want to preface this by saying that I love Burt’s Bee products, however I wasn’t a fan of this product. I’m a huge fan of gel cleansers and since I love many of their previous cleansers, I decided to pick this one one, thinking that I’d love it. Despite my enthusiasm, I did not like this product. I wish I could love this cleanser – but I honestly don’t. First of all, it’s not very gel-like but actually very runny and makes pouring a drop in your palm very difficult as you try to wash your face before the product literally SLIDES off of your hand. Another gripe? The scent. It’s terrible. And since the product is difficult to actually apply, I don’t think I get a thorough cleansing experience. For me, this is nothing to get too excited over. They have way better cleansers to choose from than this.
