Review: LaPalette Beauty Hydra Blue Petal Serum Toner

What It Is: Multi-Skincare 3-in-1 Toner + Serum + Hydrogel Mask

What It Does: Helps exfoliate, hydrate, and replenish skin.

Active Ingredients: Iris Versicolor extract, triple hyaluronic acid

Verdict: I really love how this toner feels on my skin because it acts like a toner but at the same is also a serum. The hydration this toner gives is truly unbelievable! I have oily skin, but still feel like this helps in both eliminating dead skin and keeping skin feeling fresh and plump. This would be excellent for dry skin (probably for all skin types but dry skin would really do well with this kind of toner). If you’ve always hated how other toners feel drying, then this one would be the perfect one for you.

Review: Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Setting Powder

What It Is: A blurring under-eye powder with a brightening, soft-focus finish.

What It Does: Blurs fine lines and helps set concealer.

Verdict: Seeing that I have hereditary dark circles, using concealer has always been a must for me. What that means is that I’ve tried every concealer, eye cream, and powders one can possibly imagine to find the best one that doesn’t look cakey, doesn’t look dry, and that can pass off as skin. As far as concealers go my go-to favourites have been Glossier Stretch Concealer and Tarte Shape Tape. I usually use both at the same time targeting different areas on my eye. Setting the concealer has always been an issue even when you have the best powder, it can still look cakey. So I was thrilled to try out this setting powder specifically made for the under-eye area. This product is fantastic! It doesn’t dry out the eye area, but at the same time still manages to blur the concealer in a way that makes it seem like it’s your actual skin! I absolutely love this (I had high hopes since I truly love Pat McGrath Labs products in general). Some may find this a little pricey, but if you’re only using it for the under-eye (you honestly only need one sweep with the kabuki brush) it’s bound to last a very long time. I recommend this if you need to conceal dark circles, want to brighten the area without making it look cakey and dry, or blur fine lines.

Review: Kinship Self Smooth Serum

What It Is: Resurfacing serum.

What It Does: Reduces pores, improves skin texture, and brighten

Active Ingredients: Glycolic acid

Verdict: This product has 10% glycolic acid but despite that it doesn’t feel harsh on the skin when I used it. It did have a slight sting but nothing too terrible. I didn’t notice any change in regards to my pores – or brightness, but my skin did feel smoother, so maybe this works differently for everyone. Overall, I do love Kinship products so I was excited to try this – and I do like that it has glycolic acid in it, but I can’t really say if the changes were that radical. Maybe if you have sun spots or acne scars you’re better at noticing the brightening effects. I did like the product for what it was, a serum. And it did feel incredibly smooth – so that’s what I can comment on. But others have seen improvements in other areas too. The price point is good if you’re looking for a serum with acid in it and have the skin concerns that it targets.

Review: Byroe Tea Time Peony Tea Glow Oil

What It Is: A 2-in-1 facial oil and primer supercharged with Peony, Bakuchiol, and Glutathione for luminous skin and makeup.

What It Does: Eliminates dryness, brightens uneven/dull skin tones.

Active Ingredients: Peony Tea, Bakuchiol, Glutathione, and Triple Hyaluronic Acid.

Verdict: It’s no secret that I absolutely love Bryoe products and have been very pleased with the ones that I’ve used in the past. This one is no exception. This glow oil is really good as a primer, however, I personally used it at night since my skin is oily and I didn’t want to contribute to making it even oilier. I did notice that after a week of usage, my skin looked more glowy and generally healthy. Plus, I simply really love how the oil felt whenever I’d apply it – meaning it was soft and cushiony, not sticky at all. If you’re looking for a primer glow oil, then this one would fit the bill, but you can also use it as a night time oil too. This glow oil is perfect for normal, dry, oily/combination, and sensitive skin! This oil packs in major hydration, so if your skin is thirsty, this is a must-have!

Review: Rodial – Vit C Brightening Tonic

What It Is: A brightening toner for all skin types.

What it Does: Gently exfoliates dead skin cells whilst improving skin clarity and even skin tone.

Active Ingredients: Vitamin C, Combination of essential acids.

Verdict: I absolutely love Rodial. Almost any product I’ve tried from them I’ve loved, and this toner isn’t any different. Since this toner has various acids, it may cause irritation to those with sensitive skin, but if you don’t mind a little mild stinging for a few moments, then it’s absolutely worth it as the acids really help brighten and even your skin tone. If you have any dark spots or sun spots, I would recommend using this, not to mention that it really helps with getting rid of dead skin cells without having to resort to harsh exfoliates.

Top 3 Best Beauty Stocking Stuffers

GRACE & STELLA UNDER EYE MASK

I’m a big fan of eye masks because if there’s something your eyes need it’s hydration! The skin area is very thin and fragile so it’s always smart to keep this area well hydrated and moisturized. Not to mention that it also helps reduce puffiness! Currently $21.95 for a pack of 24 masks on Amazon.

Review: Rodial – Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Velvet Cream

What It Is: Hydrating and toning cream.

What It Does: Hydrates and nourishes dry skin.

Active Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid and Hydromanil.

Verdict: It’s no secret that I absolutely love this brand and for good reason. Rodial’s products are amazing and work to address any skin concerns you may have. I use this cream at night and wake up the following morning to ultra-hydrated and glowy skin. Not only that, the hyaluronic acid helps plump up and eliminate any fine lines. But other than the results, what I simply adore about this cream is that it feels so nourishing and comforting when you apply it. It’s almost like being hugged by the fluffiest teddy. This cream is thick but doesn’t clog pores, in fact, I have oily skin and this cream works beautifully for it. So I can recommend this cream for basically any skin type and for any of your skin needs.

Review: Huda Beauty Legit Lashes

What It Is: A long-lasting, intense black, dual-ended fiber mascara with one side delivering major volume, and the other delivering dramatic curl and insane length.

Ingredient Callouts: This is cruelty-free.

Verdict: I’m always using two to three mascaras at one time, usually I’ll use one to lengthen and then a second one to add volume, and a third one for defining the lashes. Huda Beauty’s Mascara solves this problem by creating two mascaras in one tube! One end is for lengthening lashes and the second end is for volume. This comes really handy especially when you’re traveling and don’t want to carry so many makeup products. This product really worked and I really love how the mascara didn’t clump nor flake off at the end of the day. I recommend this product if you, like me, love to use more than one mascara for your makeup look.

Review: Pure Heals by Nature Village Real Rose Sleeping Mask

What It Is: Moisturizing sleeping mask.

What It Does: Revitalizes dry and stressed skin while sleeping.

Active Ingredients: Rose Petals and Rose Water.

Verdict: This is one of the very few rose products that actually smells like a genuine rose. For someone who has oily skin like me, I absolutely love the gel-like texture of this sleep mask. Not to mention that it actually works in regards to waking up with thoroughly hydrated and plump skin. It’s not sticky, and very light. An excellent mask for year-round, but especially during the summer months when one craves lighter creams. Not to mention that it’s made with some of the best natural ingredients and 100% vegan. I recommend this sleeping mask if you’re looking for a light moisturizer that still has you waking up to the most hydrated, softest skin you’ve ever witnessed.

Review: Iconic London Lip and Cheek Cream Trio

What It Is: Lip and Cheek Palette

What It Does: This is a good multi-use product. It comes packed with three creamy, mix-and-match shades that deliver a dewy, flushed finish to both your lips and cheeks. From bold and daring to soft and subtle, this versatile palette has everything you need to create endless looks.

Verdict: I’ve found that using your fingers to blend this product is the best way to go. I tried using a blush brush at first and found that the application was a little patchy. Also, you may want to wear primer or moisturizer prior to wearing this cream blush as it’ll make blending much easier. I do like the colours though but as far as cream blushes go, I think the Kat Von D and Glossier ones are the best, especially when it comes to blendability and being in the same price category. But if you want to have three colours on the go with you, then this palette would be perfect for you.
